Appliance repair
Should I repair or replace my appliance?
It depends on the appliance's age, its condition, and the repair cost. A common rule of thumb is to consider replacing when a repair would cost about half the price of a comparable new appliance, especially on an older unit. We'll give you an honest recommendation.
What appliance brands do you repair?
We repair most major brands, including Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Bosch, and Kenmore. Learn more on our appliance repair page.
Why does my front-load washer smell musty?
Front-load washers can trap moisture and detergent residue in the door gasket and drum, and hard water makes residue buildup worse. Leave the door open between loads, wipe the gasket, run a monthly cleaning cycle, and use only the recommended amount of high-efficiency detergent. If the smell persists, a drain or pump problem may be the cause.
Why is my dryer taking so long to dry clothes?
The most common cause is a clogged lint screen or a blocked or crushed dryer vent. Other causes include a failing heating element, a bad gas igniter, or a faulty thermostat. A restricted vent also makes the dryer run hotter, so it's worth having it checked.
HVAC installation
How long do central air conditioners last?
With regular maintenance, many central air conditioners last around 12 to 15 years. Lifespan depends on how hard the system works, how well it was installed, and how well it's maintained. Long, hot Utah summers add a lot of run time.
What size HVAC system do I need?
The right size depends on more than square footage. Insulation, windows, ceiling heights, basements, and Utah's climate all matter. We size systems with a load calculation so the equipment matches your home's actual needs.
Are HVAC and UV light installation quotes free?
Yes. For central air conditioner and UV light installations, we visit your home, assess your current system, and give you a written quote at no charge. Learn more about HVAC installation.
How often should I change my HVAC filter?
Standard 1-inch filters usually need replacing every 1 to 3 months. Thicker media filters can last longer, so follow the manufacturer's guidance. Change filters more often during heavy heating and cooling seasons or if you have pets.
UV light installation
Do UV lights need maintenance?
Yes, but not much. Replace the bulb on the manufacturer's schedule, typically every one to two years, because UV-C output fades even while the bulb still glows. Keep changing your regular air filter as well.
What does an HVAC UV light actually do?
An in-duct UV-C light shines on your system's cooling coil and drain pan to help reduce mold and bacteria growth there. That helps keep the system cleaner and running efficiently and supports better indoor air quality. It doesn't replace your air filter.
Can you add a UV light when you install my new system?
Yes. Installation day is the easiest time to add one, and your new coil starts out protected. See our UV light installation page for details.
